Wildcrafting Winter Weeds
Herbcraft
Description

Join herbalist Jim McDonald for a walk round winter woods and fields to explore the many plants still offering medicine even as they sleep under their snowy blanket. We’ll discuss both medicial uses and how to use your senses to tell if something is medicinally potent (even if all the books and websites you’ve ever read say you need to pick it up in the summertime). Dress warm and wear boots suitable for walking in unshovelled snow. Come learn how to identify and collect medicinal plants in the winter, how to use one’s senses to assess their strength/virtues, and use them safely & effectively.

This presentation will have items available for purchase.

more about the teacher:

Jim McDonald

Jim McDonald has been practicing the art of herbcraft since 1994, and offers a knowledge of herbalism that blends western folk and indigenous views of healing with the Vitalist traditions of 19th century western herbalism. He has taught classes and workshops throughout Great Lakes bioregion and the US, hosts the website www.herbcraft.org and is currently writing (alternately) “A Great Lakes Herbal” and “Foundational Herbcraft”. Jim is a community herbalist, a manic wildcrafter and medicine maker, and has been an ardent student of the most learned teachers of herbcraft… the plants themselves.
